Choose your format

A conversation, your way.

Both formats are planned for online GP care. Your clinician may recommend a different setting if a physical examination or further assessment is needed.

The appointment format and timing will depend on clinical suitability and live availability when the service opens.

What online care can cover

Everyday concerns deserve good care.

An online GP can discuss many common health concerns, assess what can be managed remotely and help you understand whether another service or an in-person examination would be better.

Everyday illnesses
Skin concerns
Women’s health
Men’s health
Medication questions
General health concerns

These are examples, not a promise of a diagnosis or prescription online. Tell the clinician about your symptoms so they can advise the safest next step.

What happens next

Simple to begin. Thoughtful all the way through.

The planned booking journey is designed to put the important information up front and keep the consultation focused on you.

01

Choose a time and format

When booking opens, review live availability for video or telephone GP appointments and share your concern.

02

Speak with your GP

Find a private space and talk through your symptoms, health history and what you need help with.

03

Leave with a plan

Your GP will explain their assessment and next steps, which could include advice, treatment, a test, referral or in-person care.

Care beyond the screen

The right advice matters more than the quickest answer.

A good online consultation begins with listening and ends with clarity. If the safest next step is a physical examination or a different service, your GP should say so.

Prescriptions and onward care depend on an individual clinical assessment; they are never automatic.

Clear clinical advice about your concern and what to watch for.

Treatment when appropriate, including a prescription only when clinically indicated.

Further care when needed, such as testing, referral or an in-person assessment.

Good to know

Your questions, answered.

Useful details about the planned online GP service.

Can I book a 24/7 online GP appointment now?

Not through this page. Allhours GP is in development. The service is designed around day-and-night online access; actual times, clinicians and full prices will be shown in the live booking journey.

Does 24/7 mean I can always see a GP immediately?

No specific appointment time can be guaranteed. Availability will depend on clinicians and the type of appointment suitable for your concern. The booking journey will show the current options.

Can I choose video or telephone?

Both formats are planned. A GP may advise video, an in-person examination, a test or another service if a telephone or video call is not suitable for your concern.

Will I be given a prescription?

Only if it is clinically appropriate after assessment. Advice, further questions, tests or an in-person appointment may be a safer next step.

Can my child have an online GP appointment?

Suitability depends on the child’s age and symptoms. The clinician will consider whether remote assessment is safe or whether an in-person or urgent assessment is needed.

Do I need to leave my NHS GP?

No. Private GP care can sit alongside your NHS GP registration.

What if it is an emergency?

Allhours GP is not an emergency service. Call 999 for a life-threatening emergency. If you are unsure which urgent service you need, NHS 111 can direct you.
