Good to know

The questions that matter.

Here is what to expect from the planned GP appointment experience.

Can I book an appointment now?

Not through this page. Allhours GP is in development. Live times, clinician details, consultation length and total prices will be available before payment when booking opens.

Will GP appointments be available day and night?

Allhours GP is designed for access beyond usual working hours, including planned 24/7 online GP availability. Actual appointment times will depend on clinicians and will be shown in the live booking journey.

Is an urgent GP appointment the same as emergency care?

No. Urgent GP care is for suitable non-life-threatening concerns. For a life-threatening emergency call 999. If you are unsure which urgent service you need, contact NHS 111.

Can every concern be handled by phone or video?

No. A GP may advise video, an in-person examination, a test or another service if a remote consultation is not suitable for your concern.

Will I receive a prescription?

Only if the GP decides one is clinically appropriate after assessment. Advice, further questions, tests or an in-person appointment may be a better next step.

Can children have a remote GP appointment?

The clinician will consider the child's age and symptoms, and whether remote care is suitable. Some children will need an in-person examination or more urgent assessment.

Do I need to leave my NHS GP?

No. Private GP care can sit alongside your NHS GP registration.
